My heart is broken. So many memories have flooded my consciousness that I am overwhelmed. I have tried to write this for a month, but the words never seemed to be adequate. Nevertheless, here goes.

No one that I know of could fill a room the way Phillip Finch did (except for maybe his brother Fallus). It wasn't that he was loud which he was, but thathis presence took up so much space. Phillip greeted you with gusto. I always felt that he was truly glad to see me. I will miss his gravely voice, and his commanding presence.

Some of my fondest memories are:

Sparky, the Finch's bull dog, swinging around on the end of a towel.

Our adventures in Basic Training at Fort Polk. I'm surprised they didn't kick us both out. But then again, those were the days when they took anybody.

His drum plaiying. I do not remember a party in high school that Phillip didn't end up playing the drums. He was a remarkable musician. Make a joyful noise n your new home. my friend.

Rest in peace, my brother.
